Skye-Alissa Strachan

East Youth Dance Ambassador for Norfolk

Dance biography

I am a member of Knightshift Dance Company (KDC) and have been dancing with founder Stephen Knights for six years. Whilst in KDC I performed in Norwich’s Castle Mall spring fashion show as a model/dancer. At school I was a dance leader, helping teach a class of 30 students on a weekly basis. I have also performed with West End stars Lisa Donmall and Mark Goldthorp.

The dance styles I practice are: street; hip hop; ballroom and Latin, rock and roll; musical theatre; freestyle and jazz.

What do you want to achieve in your role?

I believe that there is a dance technique out there for everybody, it’s just a case of finding what’s right for you.  There are so many styles and opportunities to be enjoyed, and everyone should have the chance to embrace that! It’s no longer about if you’re a good dancer it’s about the passion and feeling you get from dancing.  So, I have become a Youth Dance Ambassador because I want to bring these opportunities to others and inspire them to give something a go!

What are your aims as an East Youth Dance Ambassador?

My aims are to:

  1. Inspire!
  2. Spread the word about dance and help everyone else find their inner dancer regardless of their ability or who they are.
  3. Meet other individuals and experience their passion while sharing my own with them.
